The Waikato Region's proximity to other destinations makes it the perfect base for exploring the central north island. Te Kauwhata is approximately 40km north of Hamilton and Jonio's is located less than 1km from the Waikare Golf Course,  20 minutes from Miranda Hot Springs and 10 minutes from Hampton Downs Race Track. Te Kauwhata is home to Peplers Fine Foods, famous for their gourmet preserves and a few steps up the road is Jonios Thai Food Van (Popular )Thurs Friday Saturday and Sunday Evenings. For those who love the outdoors, there is the invigorating 18km walkway from The Rangiriri Hotel to Meremere, which takes in an historic Pa and ancient battle site as it meanders along the Waikato River.
